Johan Adam Linneballe

The artist Johan Adam Linneballe has worked as a visual artist for over 60 years - the last 47 years simultaneously with his work as a designer. As a designer, he has distinguished himself as one of the country's 'heavyweights' in the development of trademarks, signatures, logos, and the design of identity programs for a wide range of large and medium-sized companies at home and abroad.

His work in his company, Scandinavian Branding, has resulted in the development of names and extensive design programs within identity and branding. Among his most well-known designs are Danske Spil, Sonofon, Topdanmark, Customs and Tax, Altinget, Næstved Municipality, APpension, and Guangzhou Design Week in South China.

From around 2013, his artistic work becomes more intensive, and in his studio south of Roskilde, it now focuses specifically on paintings on paper. Many of his works are based on his extensive collection of personal photos, which initiate the painting process - as in the works in this exhibition. The photo can be considered the thesis, where the processing is the antithesis, and the result is the SYNTHESIS. The photo has lost its original meaning and appears only as a dark shadow in the final image, perhaps with traces in the title of the artwork.
